Sheffield Steelers’ preparations for this weekend’s double-header against Coventry Blaze have been dealt a blow after it was confirmed forward Tyler Mosienko would be leaving the club with immediate effect.
Mosienko has been an integral part of the Steelers’ roster over the past two seasons, helping the club claim back-to-back Elite League titles.
He had built an impressive résumé during his career, but fell from grace in 2014 when he was sacked by Esbjerg Energy in Denmark for his part in a spot-fixing scandal.
Check out the reaction on Twitter to Mosienko’s shock departure:
@_PeterSpencer I’m surprised & glad he stayed as long as he did. I thought he’d stay a year max to repair his reputation & go back to Europe

Wow! Wasn’t expecting to see the headline “Tyler Mosienko leaves the Steelers” huge loss is a massive understatement! Heartbeat has gone!

Good on Sheffield for giving Mosienko a chance, and what a great player. However cheaters should be banned for life from professional sport.

Any Blaze fan thinking it’s good news that Mosienko is released the day before we take them on back to back is crazy…

Mosienko leaving? Few would have bet on that.

Mosienko leaving is a shock but if he doesn’t want to fit in with the systems or his heart isn’t in it best that he’s gone.

So what’s the deal with Mosienko? Left because of a certain netminder?

I actually like mosienko! Id take him at clan any day of the week!

Looks like Mosienko has had his head turned by a better offer. Big loss for the steelers.

Mosienko this season wasn’t the mosienko of the last 2 seasons. If his heart wasn’t in it let him go. Thanks 4 the last 2 seasons @tmosy21
