Sheffield Steelers on top

In great form, the Steelers took first place in the standings in week two, beating the Nottingham Panthers in game two and the Coventry Blaze in game six. An intense game as the first goal was scored in the 5th minute. At the end of the 2nd intermission, the Steelers lead 4:2. The 3rd period was tough, and many penalties will be distributed to the teams: notably two penalties of 5 min for roughing for Brendan Connolly of Steelers and Max Krogdahl of Coventry Blaze. We find them in a very dynamic and lively game in the eighth game against the Panthers, where Tanner Eberle scores at the twenty-sixth second! Despite the efforts of the opposition, the Steelers were clearly in the ascendancy as soon as the game starded, winning 8-4. Whilst they have little to worry about in their next game against Coventry Blaze, they will need to remain cautious as the season progresses as opposing teams watch their tactics and will be strategising to adapt as the games progress. Note that the Steelers average 5.6 goals per game.

Other teams running

All teams have 5 games under their belt at the moment. Despite their 53.43% face-offs and offensive play the Panthers have lost 4 games. Manchester Storm has 25 powerplays, Nottingham 19 and Coventry 18. In the 7th macth, Manchester won in overtime thanks to a goal scored by Scott Simmonds, assisted by Ciaran Long. It is noticeable that Coventry Blaze’s strategy is quite penalty kill oriented, with a rate of 88.24%.
