Fournier confident Devils would come back

Gleason Fournier hailed Cardiff Devils‘ character after the team came from behind in both games last weekend to secure victory.

The Devils trailed 3-1 at Coventry Blaze on Saturday before roaring back to win 6-3, while they went one down the following day at home to Sheffield Steelers before recovering to win 3-2.

Fournier’s goal two minutes from time secured Sunday’s victory, leaving the Canadian delighted with four-point haul.

“No-one wants to come from behind in a game, but when we do it like that I feel we’re just so confident in our ability to come back that nobody is panicking,” he told IceTime TV.

“We always find a way and that’s a really good thing for a team.

“My goal felt pretty good – I screamed so loud. Especially against the Steelers here – it’s a huge game.

“It was a really good pass from (Layne) Ulmer too. We knew the ice wasn’t very good, so we said before that powerplay that we need to shoot pucks and try not to do the long pass because it may bounce so play it simple and it worked.

“It’s a long season and the championship is pretty important, so we’ve got to take everything we can get.

“We know that the coming games are pretty important too and they are pretty packed together so we’re going to need to manage that well. We’re looking forward to it.”
