Elite League round-up: Clan win Aladdin Cup

Corey Cowick, Daniel Ahsberg, Matt Keith, Kyle Wharton and Scott Pitt were on target for Braehead Clan as they claimed the Aladdin Cup with a 5-2 win at Nottingham Panthers.

Belfast Giants kicked off their preparations for the upcoming Elite League season with a pair of defeats against German side Fischtown Pinguins.

Giants lost the opening encounter 4-3 and followed up with a 7-1 reverse against the impressive-looking visitors.

Goals by Layne Ulmer (2) and Matthew Myers helped Cardiff Devils to a 3-2 win at home to HC Banska Bystrica, but the Slovakian team gained their revenge in their second game of the weekend with a 4-2 victory.
