Widnes Wild have confirmed the return of utility player Bez Hughes for the 2021/22 season.

Hughes, 26, played his junior hockey at Deeside and Altrincham before switching to Telford.

He has had two spells with the Wild, either side of a year in the USA with Charlotte Rush in the USPHL, and has made 191 appearances.

Wild player-coach Richard Haggar said: “Bez is a solid D who can also play forward if called upon. He will be playing his sixth season in total at Widnes which shows his dedication to the team.

“He is also a guy that you want not only on the ice but off the ice too. He brings so much to the group and I am happy he is sticking around for another year.”

Hughes will once again wear the number 20 shirt.
