Basingstoke Bison chief Doug Sheppard admitted he was delighted with his team’s third successive four-point weekend in the EPL.

The reigning champions won 3-1 at home to Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday, before recording a comfortable 7-2 road victory against Manchester Phoenix the following day to move up to fourth in the table.

Sheppard said: “That’s another solid four-point weekend for the club. We weren’t at our best on Saturday, but found a way to win.

“On Sunday I think we were back to our best. We had a real solid win – past the first five minutes I thought we were really good.

“We did a lot of things right, we played simple hockey and when we do that we seem to score well.

“I made some changes this week and was very impressed with the Rene Jarolin, Vanya Antonov and Dan Davies line.

“They went very well all weekend, but I have to commend the whole team who played very well – especially Sunday when everything came back together.”
