Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart has confirmed Ross Venus and Jordan Pietrus will be staying at the Skydome and entering into their second year of their respective two-year deals.

Venus (above) progressed through the Blaze junior system and has established himself as a permanent fixture in the Elite League, while Pietrus will ice for his third season with the club.

Stewart said: “Both Jordan and Ross are hard-working players, and guys you want with you in the trenches.

“I think Ross is very unlucky not to be in Belfast right now with the Great Britain squad. Both guys had good solid seasons, and I’m looking forward to working with both of them again next season.

While Venus and Pietrus return for another campaign, defender Jim Jorgensen will be leaving after two and a half years with Coventry.

“I want to thank Jim for his time and dedication to the club. He is a model professional and always conducted himself in the correct manner.

“I can’t fault Jim’s effort at all, but I want us to go in a different direction defensively and so have had to make this tough decision. Everyone at the club wishes Jim all the very best, of that there is no doubt.”
