Sheffield Steelers have confirmed netminder Brad Day has agreed another season with the club.

Day has successfully backed up Tyler Plante, Marek Pinc and Ervins Mustukovs during his time in the Elite League.

“I love being here at the Steelers, being a professional and coming to the rink every day,” said Day.

“I know my opportunities are limited playing behind Moose, but every day I learn and get better. The coaches know they can trust me should the opportunities arise as they have done in the last two years. I’m ready when called upon.

“With more and more games being played over the 32 week season I know my chances will come and I know I will be ready when they do.”

Steelers’ boss Paul Thompson added: “We have a great goalie in Brad – his improvement during his two years full-time has been outstanding.

“It’s a tough job he has. In Moose we have a starting goalie who likes to play and wants to play. Brad knows though that every day he has to come to the rink ready and prepared.

“Every time he has been called on he has delivered just like last season in Nottingham.

“Brad has to come to the rink with a smile on his face, be loose and he does that. He knows during the week he has to be the last guy off the ice as players will wish to stay on the out longer and fire a hundred pucks at him.

“We couldn’t be happier that Brad is back with us – he is as popular a team guy as you could wish for. It certainly wouldn’t be the same without him.”
