Brendan Brooks says it would be a “huge honour” to represent Great Britain at the upcoming World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Belfast.

Brooks is part of the GB squad who will face Poland at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Friday (7.30pm) and in Coventry’s Skydome on Saturday (1.00pm).

After helping Fife Flyers to sixth place in the Elite League last season, Brooks is eager to make it into the final 23-man squad.

“I’ve been definitely keeping in shape – it hasn’t been that long since the season ended and I’ve been able to get on the ice a couple times by myself.” Brooks said.

“Going into the games against Poland it’s about getting prepared for the World Championships in Belfast. Working on our systems, getting a feel for one another and making sure our compete level is back to where it should be.

“My plan is definitely to be a part of the 23-man roster. I think it would be a huge honour to be on the squad and represent GB. I wouldn’t be going if I wasn’t serious about being on the team and help go for the gold.”
