Canada and Great Britain clash response ‘phenomenal’

Great Britain Hockey, British Ice Hockey

In a press release, Ice Hockey UK general secretary Andy French has praised the ticket sales and response to the Canada clash ‘phenomenal’.

Great Britain announced that they will face number one ranked team Canada next year in an international challenge game in preparation for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship in Switzerland.

Almost 5,000 tickets were sold yesterday in the opening day of sales, with the clash being held at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Tuesday 5th May 2020 (7:30pm face-off).

“Playing Canada is a huge honour for Great Britain and it is fantastic they agreed to come to the UK as part of their World Championship preparations,” French said.

“It shows how far the programme has come in the past few years and full credit should go to Pete Russell and his players for what they’ve achieved which, in turn, means a top-ranked nation is interested in facing GB.

“We expected tickets to be popular for such an exciting game but the response on the first day was phenomenal.”
