Edinburgh Capitals have confirmed the signing of Latvian defender Rihards Grigors.

The 24-year-old played as a trialist last weekend in two pre-season games against Dundee Stars and his displays were enough to win him a contract for the upcoming Elite League campaign.

Grigors has spent the majority of his career in Latvia, but has also had spells in Germany, Finland and Hungary.

“I’m very happy that I’ve been offered the chance to sign for the Edinburgh Capitals – I had contacted the club and have pushed to be considered,” said Grigors.

“I got the chance to trial last weekend and am happy to have been signed for the coming season. Last weekend was about getting used to my teammates, but also the pace of the Elite League.

“I’m looking forward to working with Michal (Dobron) and the team over the coming weeks and playing my part in helping the club this season.”
