Cardiff Devils will return to Sweden to take on Farjestad BK after both sides were drawn together in the Champions Hockey League.

The two-legged tie will take place in early October and for this season, the competition has scrapped the group format in favour of a straight knockout.

For the Devils, it’s a fourth straight season where they’ll visit the Scandinavian country, after taking on holders and eventual winners Frolunda Indians last year and Vaxjo Lakers in the two previous seasons.

They’ll take on the team from Karlstad, who have competed in four of the six tournaments there has been since it began in 2014, but have never got beyond the last 16.

Domestically, they came second in the regular season, finishing 14 points behind Lulea after 52 games, but the coronavirus pandemic prevented the play-offs from occurring.

Färjestad finished top in the regular standings the campaign before and will provide a stern test for the side who ended the season top of the Elite League when 2019/20 ended.

The opening games are scheduled to take place on 6th and 7th October 2020, with the return legs a week later on the 13th and 14th.
