Hull Pirates’ Player/Coach Dominic Osman says retaining Jamie Chilcott and Nathan Salem are ‘no-brainer signings’ for the 2016-17 season.

Defenseman Chilcott and forward Salem (above) are the first to put pen to paper as Pirates begin team-building for the new English Premier League campaign.

Chilcott arrived from top-flight Manchester Storm mid-season, while Salem switched from the EPL’s Telford Tigers.

Osman said: “Obviously they are no-brainer signings, but at the same time they are enjoying themselves here and we like having them here.

“When you get quality players in you want to retain them and that was something we discussed when we signed them.

“We talked to them not just about this year but also next season as well. You know they will be valuable players to the organisation and valuable people.

“These are the type of people you want around the organisation. They are both quiet, but they demand a lot from themselves and the other guys.”
