Braehead Clan have confirmed the signing of forward Mike Embach from ECHL side Fort Wayne Komets.

The 29-year-old has spent the last four years mostly with the Komets, but has had short stints in the AHL and a brief spell in Europe with Swedish second tier side Leksands IF.

Clan boss John Tripp said: “Mike’s record across his career has been a good one and well as picking up goals and points on a regular basis, he has a physical side to him.

“He’s not the tallest player on the team, but he has a lot of heart and all the reports I had were very positive about what he’ll bring to the team.

“I know he was looking to come to the UK and I believe he’s a player that will add something to our offensive game.

“Mike has good numbers in his career and I expect him to continue that when he arrives to play with Braehead Clan.”

Embach added: “Coming to Braehead was the option for me after talking to a few of my buddies. I know a good few guys that have played in the UK and all of them have said great things about it.

“The biggest draw for them is finishing their schooling or getting their Master’s, but I’ve done that over the last three years so I’m more worried about winning games.

“I spoke to Kyle Flemington, who was at Edinburgh, who was a team-mate of mine, but I also talked to Matt Beca, who was a mutual friend and he spoke highly about everything.

“He made it easy for me, but I have friends that have played all over and their experiences have been positive and it sounds like a fun place to play.

“When you hear so many positive things, it certainly makes you want to be somewhere you want to play. Having spoken to John (Tripp) I’m excited to get over there and see for myself.”
