Braehead Clan have confirmed the return of Scott Aarssen for his fourth season with the club.

Aarssen joined Clan in 2013 and soon established himself as a top defensive player, receiving praise throughout the Elite League for his steady and consistent performances.

He’s made 179 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals with 101 assists.

Head Coach Ryan Finnerty said: “Scott’s been a leader since the day he walked into the dressing room. He’s been a consumate professional for me and a great guy to coach.

“He’s done everything and more of what we’ve asked of him and it was a no-brainer for me to get him back for next season. The day he tells me he’s done or moving on will be a tough one.

“I have a lot of respect for Scott and he seems to like playing for me as well as for Braehead and we’re happy to get the deal done.

“We had one of the better defensive records in the league because of that and our goalies. Scotty was a big part of that and getting him back was key.

“Once we got talking to him, the deal didn’t take long and I’m delighted to have him back for another campaign.”
