Cup advantage to Devils and Steelers

A 32 save shut-out by Ben Bowns (above) helped Cardiff Devils establish a 3-0 lead after the first leg of their Elite Challenge Cup quarter-final tie against Dundee Stars.

Second period goals by Jake Morissette and Luke Piggott set Devils on their way, before Tomas Kurka’s 17th of the season early in the final session sealed a comfortable victory.

Sheffield Steelers will take a two goal advantage into the second leg of their quarter-final against Fife Flyers after a recording 4-2 road victory on Tuesday evening.

Goals by Guillaume Desbiens and Mathieu Roy put Steelers 2-0 by the 25-minute mark, but Flyers quickly drew level through Michael Dorr and Stephen Gunn.

Steelers hit two goals in 57 seconds in the 45th minute, with Jeff Legue and Levi Nelson restoring their two-goal advantage to make them big favourites to reach the semi-final.
