Great Britain Women U18 were beaten 5-1 by Denmark in their second game at the World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Katowice.

Maria Peters and Amanda Refsgaard put Denmark two ahead in the first period and Kristine Melberg made it 3-0 early in the middle session.

Debbie Andersen grabbed Denmark’s fourth after 45 minutes, before Aimee Headland netted GB’s first goal of the competition four minutes later.

Alberte Schlie wrapped up the victory for the Danes when she scored on the powerplay with two minutes to play.

Head Coach Cheryl Smith said: “The effort was there but we came up against a very good Denmark side.

“They were relegated from the division above last season and have a quality roster. At times, we matched them and it showed what level we have to reach if we want to make the next step up.”

GB are back in action on Wednesday when they face hosts Poland (7.00pm UK time).
