Cardiff Devils have confirmed forward Jake Morissette will be back for the 2016/17 Elite League season.

Morissette scored 25 goals with 34 assists in 68 games last season – the second straight year he has played every game.

Devils’ boss Todd Kelman said: “There aren’t many players that I have ever had playing for me that are as consistent as Mo.

“You never worry about him because he brings his best every night.

“Even if he isn’t scoring one night, he is playing great defensively, killing penalties, blocking shots.

With the way he plays and the amount of times he puts his body on the line, it is impressive he has played every game for us over the past two seasons.”

Player/Coach Andrew Lord added: “Mo is Mr Reliable and always has been.

“When we played together in school, if one forward line wasn’t going, the coach would put Mo on their line, then when someone else needed a boost, he would move him there.

“We have done the same thing. You will always notice whatever line he is on starts producing more and it’s because of his work ethic and his attention to details.

“He makes you more accountable because he is so good defensively – he makes you feel like you should block more shots because you see him doing it so much. He is a big part of this team and a real leader for our club.”
