Guildford Flames coach Paul Dixon has spoke of his delight at finally bringing netminder Kevin Lindskoug to the club.

The Swede has made the move from Ritten Sport in Italy, where he played last season and joins the Surrey side looking to kick on after three good years since joining the Elite League.

For Dixon, it’s a deal that’s finally came off for him as he discussed the sort of quality he brings with him to the Elite League.

“We tried to get Kevin on previous occasions but things have never worked out, so we are pleased to have finally been able to find a way to each be moving in the same direction at the same time,” Dixon said.

“When we have spoken to people about Kevin they talk about his quality as a goaltender and his character as a great addition to the dressing room.

“Kevin has had a phenomenal record in some excellent leagues, including an outstanding stretch for a couple of years in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

“He will be just 28 when the season starts so we expect that his good run of form for a consistently long period of time will follow him here, and we are looking forward to his arrival when the new season gets underway.”

Lindskoug is no stranger to British shores having played for Polish side Katowice in the 2018-19 Continental Cup competition where he came up against Belfast Giants.

Having also played in his native Sweden, Belarus, Denmark and more recently, in Italy, Lindskoug picked up the Italian Supercup last year and is looking forward to coming to the UK.

He said: “I’m really happy to join Guildford and I’m excited to meet my new teammates. I’ve heard the fans are great there and I’m looking forward to playing hockey again very soon.”
