Great Britain forward Sam Duggan says being named in his first World Championship squad is one of the best moments of his young career.

Duggan, who has already represented GB at U18 and U20 level, was called into the full men’s squad for next week’s Division 1B tournament in Belfast by Pete Russell when he named his 23-man roster on Sunday.

“It is really difficult to find the words to describe how I felt, the excitement kicked in right away that’s for sure,” said Duggan.

“I feel I am ready for the challenge ahead and, of course, extremely proud to be representing Great Britain in a World Championship.

“It has been a goal of mine since I was little to make this team, so it means an awful lot to me to get the call-up.

“It makes it more special that we’re in front of our home crowd.

“Anytime you get to play in front of your friends and family with everyone rooting for you, it gives you that little extra boost, so that will be huge for us.”
