Great Britain U18 forward Ben Edmonds has signed a two-way contract with Dundee Stars and NIHL North outfit Solway Sharks.

Edmonds put in a series of impressive displays last season when called up to the Elite League and Head Coach Marc LeFebvre hopes the youngster can build on that this term.

“He has a lot of skill and a lot of drive – he has already got a good understanding of the game,” said LeFebvre.

“We will look to enhance these key components over the summer and next season and we are comfortable that Ben can continue to progress.

“Ben is going to train with us during the week and dress for Solway on the weekends. He will play for us when Solway don’t have a game.

“If we have injuries or suspensions he will be brought in, as we have first rights to call him up.

“I’m very comfortable with the link-up with Solway. They have a great coach down in Dumfries with Martin Grubb. I’m very confident he will make a big contribution in Ben’s continued development.

“Martin has a great track record. The transition to the Elite League is sizeable. It will require careful management, but we believe with the Sharks help we can put Ben in position to become an elite level player.”

Grubb added: “We’re delighted to be able to work with the Stars to be able to help Ben continue to develop as a hockey player.

“When Marc and I spoke it was clear we were both on the same page in terms of the benefits for both Ben and our clubs.

“We can give him much-needed game time that will help him improve. I had Ben with Team GB last year and have known him for a very long time.

“He is a great young man with huge potential. We will be working closely with Marc and the Stars organisation to help Ben realise this potential.”
