Dundee Stars youngster Ben Edmonds says he’s ready for life in the Elite League after agreeing his first full-time deal.

The 19-year-old is the latest returnee to the Stars roster after playing a peripheral role in the last two seasons and being on two-way deals.

“The past two years have been about getting more ice time and when I haven’t for the Stars, I’ve been playing elsewhere but I feel now I’m ready,” Edmonds told Stars TV.

“I’ve played in Dundee all my days and I can’t think of anything better than signing a full-time contract for the Stars.

“I was splitting my time between the Stars and Solway Sharks last year and it was a lot of fun. I was lucky to be on a team that won a treble and it’s boosted my confidence.

“I’m delighted to get a full-time deal with the Stars and can’t wait to get the season started.”

Stars’ boss Marc LeFebvre has backed Edmonds to relish his new opportunity with the club and has backed him to shine in the future.

He said: “We wanted more of a Dundee flavour to our line-up and we’ve been pleased by his progress in the last two years. It’s great to have him here at the club full-time.

“He would practice with us and ice for us when needed, but get quality ice time with Solway Sharks, with whom he won some trophies.

“That experience has certainly helped and we’re pleased to get him. He’s the future of the Stars. He’s a young guy, a local kid and we want to help him improve with more ice time.

“We want him to battle for ice time and with the Brits we have – we’ll have more depth than we have in my time at the club and Ben can be a big player for us.”
