
Fife Flyers dented Belfast Giants’ Elite League title hopes courtesy of a stunning home victory on Sunday.
The Flyers went into the game on the back of a 7-3 defeat at Manchester Storm, but bounced back in style to record a deserved 9-5 success – Ryan Dingle (2), Brendan Brooks (2) and Chase Schaber (2) led their scoring.
Cardiff Devils are now three points clear of the Giants with a game in hand after picking up two wins.
The Devils triumphed 6-3 at Coventry Blaze and followed up with a 3-0 home success against Nottingham Panthers.
Sheffield Steelers lost 5-4 at Nottingham, but they ended the weekend on a high with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Edinburgh Capitals – Robert Dowd (2) and Levi Nelson got the goals.
Braehead Clan enjoyed a four point weekend on home ice, beating Edinburgh 7-5 and Coventry 4-2 – Mike Hammond scored four over the two games.
Dundee Stars fell 6-3 at Belfast, but they kept their hopes of a top eight finish alive with a 4-2 home success against Manchester.
