Cardiff Devils moved to the top of the Elite League after picking up two wins from their three game Scottish road trip.

Friday’s game at Edinburgh Capitals saw Cardiff race into a 3-0 lead by the end of the second period, but the home team roared back in the final session to tie things up. Jacob Johnston’s second of the night 24 seconds into overtime secured an unlikely win for Edinburgh.

Cardiff bounced back at Braehead Clan, with Guillaume Doucet grabbing the only goal of the game in the second minute of overtime, and they rounded off the weekend with a 6-5 victory at Dundee Stars – Mark Richardson hitting the decider in yet another extra session.

Nottingham Panthers enjoyed mixed fortunes in their weekend double-header at Belfast Giants.

Third period goals by Mike Radja and James Desmarais capped a 4-3 win for the home side in the first game, but Nottingham gained their revenge the following night with Juraj Kolnik’s effort midway through the third period sealing a 3-2 victory.

Sheffield Steelers also had an up-and-down weekend, losing 2-0 at Coventry Blaze before returning to home ice to record a 3-1 success against Fife Flyers – Jace Coyle, Tyler Mosienko and Guillaume Desbiens got the goals (check out Steelers’ boss Paul Thompson’s views in the video above).

Michael Dorr (2) Danny Stewart, Justin Fox and Philippe Paquet were all on target for Fife in their 5-3 win at home to Dundee.

First period goals by Tristan Harper and Chris Bruton secured a 2-1 victory for Braehead on home ice against Edinburgh.

Vinny Scarsella and Mathew Sisca found the net for Manchester Storm as they picked up a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Coventry.
