Nottingham Panthers earned the bragging rights over Sheffield Steelers after recording two victories against their big rivals in the Elite League over Christmas.

Goals by Logan MacMillan Brian McGrattan and debutant Jason Williams secured a 3-2 success for Corey Neilson’s team on the road, and Williams got in on the act again on home ice with the decider in another 3-2 win.

Cardiff Devils extended their lead at the top of the table to six points after claiming four points from their two games against Coventry Blaze.

Layne Ulmer (2) topped the scoring as Cardiff triumphed 5-3 on the road, while Sean Bentivoglio (2) and Guillaume Doucet (2) led the way in a 6-4 home success.

Braehead Clan lost 5-1 at home to Belfast Giants, but bounced back to win 7-2 at Edinburgh Capitals – Scott Pitt (2) was amongst the scorers at Murrayfield.

That result completed a miserable couple of days for Edinburgh who also crashed 9-3 at Fife Flyers – Ryan Dingle hit a hat-trick for the home side.

Omar Pacha (2) led the scoring for Manchester Storm in their 4-1 home victory over Dundee Stars.
