Guildford Flames and Callum Best have agreed a mutual release with immediate effect.

The 23 year old forward signed for Flames after a breakout season in NIHL1 South with Streatham Redskins during which he bagged 36 goals and 54 assists in just 36 starts. Best has found things much more difficult in the EPL, failing to register a single point with the Flames.

Head Coach Paul Dixon commented: “Callum was welcome to stay with us, but we agree that his best option for getting ice time will be with another club. I think it’s safe to say things didn’t work out the way either of us may have expected in the earlier season games.

“Ice time has been vastly reduced in recent weeks and, in combination with the addition of a new player, it doesn’t look like opportunities will be readily available in the near future. We wish Callum all the best for the remainder of the season.”

It’s understood a return to NIHL1S is on the cards for Best, with Streatham Redskins or Invicta Dynamos the most likely destinations.
