Sheffield Steelers have signed Great Britain U16 forward Kieran Brown.

The youngster has spent the last two seasons playing for Iowa Wild AAA and joins Liam Kirk and Cole Shudra on apprenticeship terms with the club.

Steelers’ boss Paul Thompson said: “We are delighted to add a further under 23 player to our roster. Kieran will join Liam and Cole on an apprenticeship meaning he will be with the team full-time.

“We identified Kieran a couple of years ago as an elite junior who we believed could join us and prosper under the kind of training that Liam and Cole have enjoyed. We certainly believe that the Steelers now have three of the best young players in the country.

“Kieran is a very talented player with an incredible future ahead of him. We all look forward to working closely with him as he develops into what we hope will be an outstanding professional for the Steelers.”

Well done Steelers! At least there is some hope for the next generation of hockey players, giving these kids an apprenticeship Is a great way to develop their skills and talents. As well as showing other kids in hockey clubs that there is an opportunity to progress if you work hard enough. Hats off to Sheffield
