Ice Hockey UK will host an U16 international tournament in Dumfries in December.

Great Britain U16 will be joined by Belgium, Netherlands and Spain for the four-team event from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th December 2016.

It comes off the back of a successful international tournament in Spain last season, which was attended by the GB youngsters.

The tournament will be held at the Dumfries Ice Bowl, which has previously hosted three IIHF World Championship tournaments.

IHUK general secretary Andy French said: “It is important for this age-group to get international experience.

“The tournament in Spain last season was the first one since the U16 team was reformed. I know the coaching staff took a lot from that and we decided to host the tournament this year.

“There are some exciting players in the GB set-up at the moment and it will be great to see them in competitive action.”
