Vanya Antonov’s last second goal secured a 3-3 draw for Great Britain U20 against Hull Pirates on Wednesday evening.

The EPL side held a 3-1 advantage going into the third period, but GB showed great determination to come back and grab a share of the spoils in East Yorkshire.

Pirates’ forward Brad Betteridge opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, but Liam Kirk soon brought GB level.

Goals by Dominic Osman and Andrej Themar made it 3-1 by the 22 minute mark, but Antonov (above) fired a wrist shot home to reduce the deficit to one five minutes later.

Both teams spurned opportunities in the final period, before Antonov’s dramatic buzzer-beating effort tied things up.

The game was a warm-up for the upcoming World Championship (Division 1B) in Budapest, where Tom Watkins’ team will face hosts Hungary, as well as Slovenia, Poland, Italy and Ukraine, from 11th to 17th December 2016.
