Great Britain U20 will take on the EPL’s Hull Pirates next week as part of their preparations for December’s World Championship in Budapest.

GB begin a two-day camp on Tuesday 15th November which will include on-ice and off-ice sessions at iceSheffield ahead of the game the following day (face-off 7.30pm)

Tom Watkins’ team are preparing for the Division 1B tournament, where they will face hosts Hungary, as well as Slovenia, Poland, Italy and Ukraine, from 11th to 17th December.

“This is a vital camp in our preparations for December’s World Championship,” said Watkins. “It is only a month away from the tournament and it’s important we get the squad together.

“The game against Hull will be very useful as we can get the players into match situations. I would like to thank Hull Pirates for enabling this to happen.”

Pirates’ Player/Coach Dominic Osman added: “When Tom called me regarding the opportunity to play the U20 team, I immediately contacted Shane (Smith).

“We jumped at the opportunity as we want to help out the GB programme as much as possible. It will also be a good skate for us as a team before a big weekend.

“We have two players who will be icing for GB, so it will be a good chance for us to look at them from the opposing side.

“We appreciate the opportunity to help out and look forward to the night.”
