Jin Ok’s overtime winner proved the difference as Great Britain Women were beaten 3-2 by DPR Korea in their third game at the World Championship (Division 2A) tournament in Gangneung.

GB scored twice in less than two minutes in the third period to battle back from two goals down, but had to settle for their first point of the tournament.

Jong Su Hyo and Won Chol Sun put DPR Korea 2-0 up by the 42 minute mark, but two quick goals by Angela Taylor and Leanne Ganney drew GB level midway through the final period.

Katie Marsden went close to winning it in overtime, before Jin OK was credited with the game-winning goal following a mad scramble around Nicole Jackson’s net after 62 minutes..

Head Coach Cheryl Smith said: “Nobody likes losing and it’s disappointing. I’m more disappointed because we took some risks.

“We were 2-0 down, took a risk and got the goal back. We got our heads together and the girls listened and we got back into the game.

“The game was going our way when we got back into it at 2-2, but we just didn’t finish it. We had the chances in overtime, but we just did not get it done.”

GB return to action on Thursday when they face Slovenia (8.30am UK time).
