Great Britain Women U18 ended the four-team international tournament in Budapest with a superb 4-2 victory over Spain.

Abbie Sylvester and Amy Trueman both scored twice as GB recorded their first win of the competition.

GB lost their opening two games against Hungary and Poland, but showed plenty of character to record a well-deserved success.

Head Coach Cheryl Smith said: “I’m so happy for the girls and so proud of them. They listened to the gameplan and they executed it really well.

“They’ve come a long way in a few short days and it was lovely to see a smiling and happy dressing room.

“The girls worked really hard all week and they fully deserve this victory.

“You can’t underestimate how important this week has been – getting them ice-time ahead of a World Championship is so important.

“Rome wasn’t built in a day and the girls now realise we have hard work ahead, but have the time to do the work needed.

“This week we have put some building blocks in place and we will develop from here on.”
