Great Britain Women U18 ended their World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Katowice with a 4-2 victory over Kazakhstan.

GB, who beat China 2-1 after overtime on Thursday, had a brilliant start and raced into a 3-1 first-period lead.

Katie Marsden and Casey Traill put GB two in front, before Alexandra Kokorina pulled one back for Kazakhstan.

Marsden quickly restored GB’s two-goal cushion with just over a minute of the first session to play.

GB had to withstand Kazakhstan pressure in the second period, with Maisie Gilbert twice making good saves from breakaways.

But Kazakhstan scored the only goal of the period through Alexandra Golotvina after 33 minutes.

In the third period Aimee Headland went close for GB and Traill, who earlier in the session hit the post, wrapped the game up with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
