Giants snap up Leduc for title run-in

Belfast Giants have secured the services of Canadian defender Jerome Leduc for the remainder of the 2016/17 Elite League season.

The 24-year-old was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and has since gone on to play over 250 games in the AHL with the Rochester Americans and Binghamton Senators.

Leduc signed for Czech outfit HC Dynamo Pardubice at the start of the 2016/17 season, but will finish the campaign with the title-chasing Giants.

Steve Thornton, Giants’ Head of Hockey Operations, said: “We are excited to be able to bring in a player of Jerome’s quality at this stage of the season. He will add stability to our ‘D’ corps and will also help going forward.

“Unfortunately, we received news that Alex Foster will miss a significant number of games following an injury sustained in the game against Fife and we made sure to move quickly to bring in the best possible player available.”
