Great Britain Men’s Inline Hockey team have issued a plea for financial support to help them compete at June’s World Championship tournament in Slovakia.

Head Coach Mark Barrow is due to finalise his squad at the end of April, with many current ice hockey players in the running to represent their country.

James Archer, Ashley Jackson, Josh Smith, Ivan Antonov and Liam Kirk are amongst the names currently under consideration, but the team are looking for funding to assist their bid for a medal.

Barrow said: “Unfortunately in the UK inline hockey is seen as a minority sport and receives no funding from any governing body, even though we represent GB as part of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

“We are looking for funding to help our players and support staff travel to Bratislava, where we are looking to better our bronze medal of 2015.

“Any donations we receive will go towards flights, hotel, game jerseys, off-rink apparel and any equipment we may need.

“If there are any companies that would like to sponsor us and have their name or logo put on our jerseys, off-rink apparel or included on our promotional videos we’d love to hear from them.

“Any money donated would be gratefully received and appreciated more than you know. These lads want to play for their country and bring back another medal.

“Please help us achieve our goals and in return we promise to give every effort humanly possible to make that happen and to make our country proud.”
