MK Lightning have confirmed defenseman James Griffin has agreed a further two seasons with the EPL club.

Griffin joined Lightning last summer after four seasons with the Elite League’s Coventry Blaze.

He previously captained Great Britain at U18 level and made 13 appearances for GB at U20 level.

Head Coach Pete Russell said: “I’m delighted Griff has agreed to stay with us for at least another two years.

“He’s been a fantastic signing for us and is a big part of our team both on and off the ice.

“His energy, passion and desire are there for all to see in every game. Griff plays a hard game and people know about it when they come up against him.

“This season I’ve seen him get better and better and his confidence has grown, which has enhanced his whole game.

“He has a big future in our sport, and people forget he’s only 22 years old. There’s so much more to come from him and he has a strong desire to continue developing his game.”

Griffin added: “I’ve really enjoyed this season – the team is a really great bunch of guys and I’ve enjoyed playing under Pete.

“Our fans are brilliant and they create such an electric atmosphere every game. I’m honoured and looking forward to playing for the Lightning for the next two years.”
