Long-serving Sheffield Steelers forward Jason Hewitt is eagerly anticipating his upcoming testimonial.

Now in his 11th season with the club, Hewitt recently passed Ron Shudra’s all-time appearance record with the Steelers and continues to be a valuable member of the squad.

Since joining Sheffield during the 2005/06 season, the former Great Britain international has won league, play-off and cup winners medals, and has also claimed silver and bronze with GB at World Championship tournaments.

The testimonial event includes a celebration dinner on Monday, 25th January, hosted by David Simms, and a game at iceSheffield featuring a host of former Steelers stars, including Colt King, the following night.

Hewitt says it was a huge honour to be awarded a testimonial by the Steelers.

“I have nothing but great memories here and look forward to many more,” said Hewitt. “We’ve tried our best to bring back some familiar faces that the fans will enjoy seeing again.

“A lot of work has gone into our events so far, and the fans’ responses have been amazing.

“I’m really looking forward to the Testimonial Dinner, although I’m slightly nervous that I’ve allowed Simmsey free reigns to host the event!

“Tickets are selling well for the game on the Tuesday, but we still have some available, so if you fancy seeing some amazing players, please come along.”
