Stena Line Belfast Giants Head Coach Adam Keefe was pleased with his team’s performance in the 7-0 home win over the Fife Flyers in the Challenge Cup Quarter Final 2nd Leg. Tied at 3-3 from the 1st Leg, the Giants dominated proceedings at The SSE Arena on Tuesday night and took the aggregate win 10-3 to advance to a Semi-Final showdown with the Nottingham Panthers.
“It was a great performance from the guys,” said Keefe – speaking post-game with A View From The Bridge. “We wanted to make sure we showed up and understood the importance of tonight’s game.”
“We are here to compete for every trophy available and so I was really happy with the guys performance.”
Jackson Whistle backstopped the Giants to their Semi-Final place with a 30 shot shutout and the Head Coach was pleased that, after gaining an early lead, the team continued their level of play for the duration of the game,
“I was pleased the team played for Jackson Whistle for 60 minutes tonight, who is a huge member of this team.”
The Giants will now move on to the Challenge Cup Semi-Finals where the Nottingham Panthers will be waiting. The Panthers will also be the Giants’ opponents this weekend with back-to-back games this Friday and Saturday at The SSE Arena,
“The win was good for our confidence moving into a big weekend with the Nottingham Panthers. They are a good hockey team and we will need to be at our best in the the Semi-Finals and this weekend.”
