Keefe: We need to be at our best against Cardiff

Belfast Giants coach Adam Keefe says his team have to be at their best when they head to Wales for a double header with league leaders Cardiff Devils.

Keefe’s side lie five points behind the Devils in the standings after their Continental Cup exertions last week took them away from the domestic front.

But they have a chance to close that gap to one, however the Giants boss reckons they will come up against a different Cardiff team.

“We need to be our best this weekend,” he told A View from the Bridge. “Cardiff are on a run right now – they are playing well and we know just how good they can be.

“We need to be the best Belfast Giants team we can this weekend to have success.

“We’ll come up against a different Cardiff side this weekend so ave to worry about our performance and if we go there with our best hockey then I’m confident we can push them.

Devils are on a seven-game winning run at the moment, but Giants have been victorious in their two meetings so far this season.

It’s going to be a tough one to decide when the top two come together, but Keefe is refusing to get too carried away, especially after the positives from their Continental Cup weekend last week.

He added: “It’s important we stay in the moment and not look too far ahead. We’re taking things day by day right now.

“We’ll get to Cardiff and put forth our best effort, regroup after the weekend and worry about the next weekend.

“We just have to stay in the moment and not look too far ahead or what’s next.”
