Cardiff Devils managing director Todd Kelman says latest re-signing, Mike McNamee, is a player he could see at the club for years.

The Welsh side are continuing their preparations for the new campaign by bringing back the Canadian forward, who enjoyed a good first campaign last season.

And Kelman understood why McNamee became such a favourite with the fans.

“Mike is such a versatile player, very skilled, great defensively but also so much offensive talent.  He quickly became a fan favourite and I can see why,” he said.

“He scored some big goals for us last season and was playing his best hockey when the season was cut short.

“Mike had a great first season in Cardiff and is someone I could see playing here for a long time if we can keep him. I am really pleased to have him back.”

McNamee scored 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points in 58 games for the Devils during the 19/20 season, which was curtailed because of the COVID pandemic.

He signed from Danish side Aalborg Pirates and has also played in Germany in his career and becomes the Devils’ tenth signing for the new season, pencilled in to begin in December.
