Edinburgh Capitals’ defender Jay King has agreed another year with the club.

The 21-year-old came through the youth system and has made over 200 Elite League appearances during the last five seasons.

“I’m excited to get started working under coach (Dmitri) Khristich and I have a feeling playing for a non-playing coach will really help me progress and bring out the best in my game,” said King.

“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully the fans are going to have a lot to cheer about this season and that I can contribute more to the team in as I develop further.”

Khristich added: “Jay is a local guy from Edinburgh and I know he is proud to play for this team and represent the Capitals.

“He’s played with team for a number of years since he was 16 I’m told, so it’ll be good to have him as part of the squad as others settle in.

“While he isn’t a big player in terms of size, we’ll focus on him using his talent to make smart plays and to be in the right place at the right time.

“I know he’s played as a forward and on defence so understands both sides of the game. I’m looking forward to helping him develop further as a player.”
