Hull Pirates have confirmed forward Tommi Laine has re-signed for the club.

The Finn previously iced for the Pirates in 2015/16, scoring 24 goals with 39 assists in 46 games.

The 30-year-old joined EC Kitzbuhel in Austria during the summer, but has now agreed to return to the EPL ahead of the Pirates’ Christmas double-header against Sheffield Steeldogs.

“It’s something that had been ongoing for the last couple of weeks,” Pirates’ boss Osman told the Hull Daily Mail.

“We’ve been in negotiations with him and he decided he was going to stay, but he went back and thought about it and came back and decided he wanted to come.

“We’ve been waiting for him to come to terms with his old club and that’s why it’s taken a little longer than expected.

“We’re just really happy to bring him on board. We wanted someone who could contribute a lot who we knew well, so it was not a gamble.”

“As of now I will be going back on the bench. It will be a good opportunity for me to come off the ice and see where things are at and work from there, that’s the plan.

“Now we have a sixth import I can be injury cover and we’ll have to see about long-term and evaluate things.”
