Milton Keynes Lightning have announced the departure of defenceman Ryan Lannon as their off-ice issues continue.

The 36-year-old has been a steady influence in defence and acted as a co-player/coach with Tim Wallace after previous coach Doug McKay left in November.

But the manner of his departure has left fans scratching their heads after the club releasing this short statement announcing the news.

“Milton Keynes Lightning announces today that we are aware that defenceman Ryan Lannon has left the club. We will not be making any further comment at the current time,” it said.

A statement was made last week confirmed that Lannon had taken a step back from coaching duties, leaving Wallace in sole control.

It comes just a couple of days after allegations emerged that McKay is seeking reimbursement of costs and wages due to him following his exit.

Lannon is the fifth player to leave MK since the start of the season, but will look to build on Saturday’s 4-3 win over Dundee Stars, their first in 10 games as they lie bottom of the table.
