Lauwers says Lake will fit in well

Dax Lauwers believes Ben Lake will be “a great fit” for the type of team that Coventry Blaze boss Danny Stewart is looking to build.

The pair were teammates at Alaska Aces in the ECHL last season and Lauwers thinks Lake will be a big hit in the Elite League.

“He works his balls off and plays hard – he finishes every hit, sticks up for his teammates and does whatever it takes to win,” said Lauwers.

“He’s a good person that makes smart decisions on and off the ice. He’s a competitor at heart who has great speed. He’s solid in the defensive zone and can finish when given the opportunity too.

“Ben’s a great team player and of all the guys in that Alaska locker room last year, ‘Laker’ was one of those that everybody loved.

“He’s a really solid guy who drives the net hard. I can’t say enough good things about him. I think he’ll be a great fit for a team like the one Danny is building in Coventry.”
