Braehead Clan forward Alex Leavitt wants to see his team improve their record against Erhardt Conference opponents.

The Clan have won only one of their 12 games so far against Erhardt teams as they get ready to travel to Nottingham Panthers on Saturday.

With a home game against Cardiff Devils to follow on Sunday, Leavitt believes it’s time the Clan started producing the goods outside of their own Conference.

“It would be huge if we could improve our record against the Erhardt Conference teams this weekend,” Leavitt said.

“We’ve been getting the job done in our own Conference and that’s the goal every year.

“But you have to win the games against the teams from the south and you can’t really compete for a league title unless you do.

“That’s been the big issue for us this year. We haven’t competed with the teams from the other Conference and we have six or seven games left in that regard so it’s important we get winning.

“The weekend ahead is as tough as we can get right now. Nottingham have finally found a way to play and have been significantly better in their last few games.

“Then Cardiff, who are top of the table, are a team we haven’t done well against this season so this is a last chance for us and we’d really like to change the tide on that one.

“Any time you play a good road game, like we did in Fife, it’s good for the confidence. There’s no easy games in this league and in my opinion, it’s one of the strongest in Europe from top to bottom.”
