MK Lightning have confirmed a new partnership agreement with a leading internationally-recognised hotel brand.
Holiday Inn Express are the latest addition to the club’s roster of partners and sponsors for a deal which will see the hotel’s logo feature on the Lightning players’ shorts as well as in the matchnight programme and on their website.

Just minutes from central Milton Keynes, the Holiday Inn Express near Willen Lake will provide accommodation for Lightning’s non-MK based players on match weekends. A range of eight conference rooms, accommodating from eight up to 26 people, will provide venues for Head Coach Pete Russell’s team meetings.

Lightning General Manager, Nick Poole, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Holiday Inn Express in what we hope will be the start of a long-term partnership.

“This shows how far our profile has risen over the years that we’ve been able to create a relationship with a brand as strong as Holiday Inn Express.

“Not only will several of our players be based at Holiday Inn Express on a weekend, but it also gives travelling supporters a great place to stay overnight on a Saturday after watching the weekend’s match. We look forward to working closely with Holiday Inn Express over the coming season.”

The 178 room hotel is situated close to the M1 and Coachway and is just a five-minute drive from central Milton Keynes and Lightning’s home, the MK Arena.

Sylvain Lagier, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Express Milton Keynes, explained that a shared involvement in the local community was key to signing the new agreement.

“One of our roles as a business is to participate in community life and we have been given the fantastic opportunity to support our local ice hockey team, MK Lightning – who also care about the community,” said Mr Lagier.

“It’s a crowded and in-demand market for hotels in Milton Keynes, but the Holiday Inn Express brand has a very strong presence. We’re really looking forward to a successful partnership that will benefit both ourselves and MK Lightning and we wish the team every success!”
