The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the addition of netminder Chris Truehl. The 6ft3” shot stopper from Stoughton, Wisconsin is no stranger to The SSE Arena, having recorded a 30 shot shutout for the Quinnipiac Bobcats in their shootout victory over St.Lawrence in last years NI Connections Friendship Four Tournament.

Truel arrives this week and will be available to play right away with the Giants facing Cardiff on Saturday in Belfast and Dundee on the road this Sunday.

Truehl won an ECAC Championship in his first season with Quinnipiac and was named to the NCAA (AHA) All Rookie Team in his time at Air Force Academy.

With Stephen Murphy recovering from injury, Tuehl who will wear the #33 jersey, joins Jackson Whistle and Andrew Dickson to bolster Head Coach Adam Keefe’s options in goal.

Adam Keefe on the signing of Chris Truehl:

“We are happy to add Chris to the lineup and I think he will fit in nicely with Jackson, Andrew and Stephen.”

“With Murphy out injured we thought it was necessary to add a goalie to lighten the load on Jackson Whistle, especially with a lot of road games coming up in the next two months.”

“Chris is a big strong goalie that has shown he can compete at a very high level. He’s in good shape and is hungry to get to Belfast to prove himself.”
