Solihull Barons strengthened their grip on a NIHL North Moralee D1 play-off place with a 3-1 win at home to Solway Sharks.

Joe Henry, Josh Bruce and Niklas Ottosson (above) got the goals for Barons who remain third in the table, five points clear of Telford Tigers NIHL and Billingham Stars.

Blackburn Hawks extended their lead at the top of the table after picking up two comfortable victories against Sheffield Senators.

Hawks won 8-3 on the road and 9-2 on home ice to move seven points clear of Whitley Warriors.

The Hillheads outfit, who have two games in hand on the Hawks, kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 success at home to Sutton Sting – Callum Watson and DJ Good got the goals.

Sergevs Jegorovs (3) and Simon Offord (2) led the scoring for Sutton as they cruised to a 10-2 victory against Sheffield Spartans.

Josh Hustwick’s goal with one second remaining secured a 3-3 draw for Telford on home ice against Solway.

Widnes’ Laidler D2 title hopes were dealt a blow as they dropped a vital point at home to Nottingham Lions – Kieran Strangeway grabbed a late goal for Wild to seal a 5-5 draw.

Blackburn Eagles maintained their push for a play-off spot with a 4-1 win at home to Hull Jets.

Joe Greaves’ goal with just over two minutes left sealed a 5-4 win for Altrincham Aces at Hull. Coventry Blaze drew 3-3 with Bradford Bulldogs.
