Billingham Stars ended 2016 on a high after securing an 8-6 victory at home to Sutton Sting in NIHL North.

Michael Bowman (above) led the way with four goals for the Stars, who are now six points behind Moralee D1 leaders Solway Sharks with a game in hand.

Whitley Warriors had a mixed weekend, losing 4-2 at Sutton before bouncing back with a 4-2 home success over Deeside Dragons – Shaun Kippin (2) topped the scoring against the North Wales outfit.

Telford Tigers NIHL drew level on points with Blackburn Hawks at the foot of the table with an impressive 4-1 victory at Solihull Barons – Matt Viney, Adam Brittle, Luke Brittle and Karol Jets got the goals.

In Laidler D2, Widnes Wild moved up to second in the table with a 5-0 win at Hull Jets – Andrew Turner (2), Shaun Dippnall (2) and Ollie Barron were on target for the visitors.

Paul Stanley weighed in with a couple of goals in Nottingham Lions’ 9-4 home victory over Bradford Bulldogs.
