Streatham IHC have signed forward Ryan Watt ahead of the 2017/18 NIHL1 South season.

Watt joins Streatham from Hull Pirates where he played in the EPL last year. He has iced for numerous clubs during his career including Braehead Clan and Basingstoke Bison.

Streatham boss Jeremy Cornish said: “Ryan is a big signing for our club – he is a skilful centre man that has a nasty mean streak.

“Ryan spent last year up north in Hull and once I heard he wanted to be back down south I didn’t hesitate to ring him. I’ve known him a long time now and I’m very excited to be bringing him to Streatham.

“He will become an instant fan favourite and he will not think twice about sticking up for himself or his teammates.

“It’s hard to find a player with Ryan’s skill set, experience and toughness and I will be looking for him to play a major leadership role on our club this year.”

Watt added: “I’m looking forward to the new challenges set in the new structure of the NIHL. I’ve known ‘Corn Dog’ (Jeremy Cornish) for a long time, having played with him a bit back in Basingstoke. When he called and offered me the opportunity to come play under him, I jumped at the chance.

“It didn’t take long to get the move sorted. Now I just have to wait out the next few months and then it will be time to meet all the fans and my new teammates in SW16.”

Defenders Aidan Doughty and Jordan Gregory have also signed for the club from Solent Devils and Bracknell Hornets respectively.

Julian Smith has agreed a second season with London Raiders, while Ollie Baldock joins the club from Chelmsford.

Former Telford Tigers defender Sam Zajac has signed for Swindon Wildcats, while goalie Matthew Smital has switched from Bracknell to join the Wiltshire outfit.

Forward Kyle Smith also returns for another year with Swindon.

Robbie Ferrara is back for a further season with Peterborough Phantoms and veteran defender Joe Baird has agreed another campaign with Basingstoke Bison.

Defender Rupert Quiney has signed for MK Thunder, Cardiff Fire have added Callum Buglass to their squad and Matt Foord has agreed another year with Bracknell Bees.

In D2, Matt France, Sonny Phillips and Donald Campbell have been confirmed to Chelmsford Chieftains’ roster, while goalie James Richardson has joined the Hornets from Invicta Dynamos.

Defender Jack Hayes has also joined the Hornets’ squad.
